Intense violet colour, with sweet yet fresh red fruit flavours and a touch of vanilla.
History The Codorníu Raventós family has been making wine since 1551 and in 1998 built the Legaris winery. Vineyard plots are carefully selected, grapes carefully handled and then benefit from state-of-the-art winery techniques to produce a modern, polished wine expressing the lively intensity and concentration of the wines of Ribera del Duero.
Regional Information The Duero river runs through the centre of the famous wine growing region to the north of central Spain. The vineyards are relatively high at 7-800 metres above sea level, and very cold winter temperatures are counter-balanced by the hot continental summer climate. The day/night & seasonal temperature differences combined with low rainfall, concentrate the grapes ripeness and bring out its flavour.

Vinification Details
The 2011 harvest took place between the 16th of September and the 13th of October. The clusters were gently destemmed and poured into vats where they underwent pre-fermentation maceration at a low temperature which was then gradually increased to bring on fermentation. This was carried out at a maximum temperature of 24°c in order to preserve all the fruity aromas. The pre-fermentation maceration and alcoholic fermentation process lasted 7-10 days. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. After this, it was racked in American oak barrels where it was aged for three months before being bottled.
