Hob - From Ambient. Serving size: 30g per portion/80g when cooked 25 mins for 2 servings 1. Rinse 60g of lentils and place in 500ml water. 2. Bring to the boil for 10 mins. 3. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 mins until the lentils have softened with a slight firm bite. 4. Drain, rinse, and use as required. Do not reheat

Lentil Dal Serves 4 Ingredients - 200g Red lentils - 1 Chopped Onion - 2 Cloves Garlic, chopped - 1/2 tsp Salt - 1/2 tsp Chilli powder - 1/4 tsp Ground turmeric - 1 tsp Ground coriander - 1 tsp Ground cumin - 1 tsp Ground garam masala - 3 Chopped plum tomatoes - 1 tbsp lemon juice or tamarind paste - 2 tbsp oil - 400ml Water Method 1. Heat oil on a low-medium heat and fry onion and garlic until golden brown. 2. Add cumin, coriander, chilli powder and turmeric, fry briefly until fragrant notes from spices are released. 3. Add tomatoes and salt and cover. Cook on a low heat until the oils are released from the tomatoes, and they are a deep red colour, will take approx. 15 mins. 4. Add in 400ml water and the lentils and cook for a further 20 mins, add a little more water if it starts to dry out. 5. Stir in garam masala and lemon juice (or tamarind) and cook for 2 mins more to finish off.
