Recipes
White Loaf You will need just 500g Strong White Bread Flour, 25g butter, 1 tsp salt, 1 sachet of McDougalls bread yeast, 300ml warm water. Why not add 2tsp of sugar to give added flavour and a thicker crust.
In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar (optional) and salt. Rub in the butter and stir in the yeast. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. To make this easier you can use an electric mixer fitter with a dough hook, just knead for 5 minutes.
Shape the dough and place in a greased bread tin or on a baking tray. Cover with a clean, damp tea towel and leave in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size. For best results leave for 2 hours. The clean damp tea towel just helps stop your bread from drying out!
Uncover your bread dough and place in a preheated oven at 230°C/210°C for fan/gas 8 and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. When cooked and baked loaf should sound hollow when tapped underneath. Then leave to cool and enjoy!
