Shiitake Mushrooms are originally native to East Asia but ours are sourced locally from a grower in Devon, picked and delivered on the same day. In the wild, Shiitake Mushrooms most frequently grow on fallen tree trunks and branches, so ours are cultivated in oak shavings to produce a naturally deep smokiness of flavour. Denser and more moist than other commercially grown varieties, our Shiitake Mushrooms have highly textured caps and beautifully defined gills, but it's the especially rich and woody flavour that truly stands out.
Organic Shiitake Mushrooms with highly textured caps and meaty, dense flesh. A variety renowned for its naturally intense, woody flavour. Shiitake grow wild in Japan and China, flourishing on hard woods such as oak, beech, chestnut and walnut. Straight from a funghi specialist in Holland, who replicates their natural growing environment and cultivates the mushrooms on wood & organic matter in damp, humid conditions.
