Although cold water prawns are smaller in size than warm water prawns, they pack an intense flavour and juicy texture into every dish.

Unlike most warm water prawns (such as king prawns), cold water prawns are wild-caught rather than farmed. All Ocado own brand cold water prawns are sustainably caught in the North West and North East Atlantic and are Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified.

The blue MSC ecolabel ensures that these prawns have been caught from a well-managed fishery that has been independently certified to the MSC's science-based standard for sustainable fishing. These fisheries use a mix of cutting edge science and innovation to map out and understand the seabed in more detail, in an effort to better protect our vulnerable marine environment and ecosystems.

These fisheries also have low bycatch levels using a variety of methods including:
* Monitoring the behaviour of the prawns - they often aggregate in deep waters in fjords to avoid predators
* Specialised equipment - Using sorting grids allows the escapement of bigger fish through the top hole, and of smaller shrimp through the second grid on the bottom.
