Instructions

1. Make the Filling:
Heat a little oil in a pan until piping hot. Add minced beef and brown over a medium heat before draining off the excess liquid. Add the Old El Paso Original Taco Spice Mix and 100ml water. Stir well to mix, bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally until liquid is reduced.

2. Warm the Taco Shells:
To Heat in Oven: Pre-heat oven to 180°C, gas mark 4. Place Taco Shells open end down on a baking sheet and heat in oven for 2-3 minutes.
Alternatively, to Microwave: Place 6 Taco Shells open end down in a microwaveable dish. Microwave on full power for 1 minute. Reduce time proportionally for fewer Taco Shells. Time may vary depending on microwave.

3. Stuff and Enjoy:
Take the warmed Taco Shells and filling to the table. Let everyone stuff the Taco Shells with spiced meat, grated cheese, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce and Old El Paso Salsa. Enjoy!

Helpful Hints & Tips:
You can adapt this recipe to suit your own personal taste:
Less Spicy: You can make it less spicy by adding less of the spice mix sachet.
Try with chicken: Just replace minced beef with thin strips of chicken.
Go Veggie: Replace minced beef with a 450g can of Old El Paso Refried Beans and a 198g can of drained Green Giant® Sweet Corn.

Serves 4 Amigos

Just add
500g lean beef mince
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup soured cream
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 baby green cabbage, shredded
1 carrot, grated

Classic Tacos
1 Heat a little oil in a frying pan and cook the onion until soft.
Sizzle and stir the beef over high heat for about 4 minutes.
Add the taco seasoning mix and 150mL of water. Bring to boil, simmer uncovered for 10 minutes or until sauce thickens and smells yummy. Combine the soured cream and lime juice and set aside.
2 Make the tacos extra crunchy!
Remove taco shells from packaging, separate them from each other.
Oven: Pre-heat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan forced), gas mark 4.
Place the taco shells open end down on a baking sheet and heat for about 3 minutes.
Microwave: Place taco shells on a microwaveable plate, heat 60 seconds on full power (800 watts).
3 Load the tacos with taco beef, pile on cabbage and carrot, drizzle with lime soured cream and top with saucy salsa.
Serve and enjoy!

Top Tip
Make it veggie by replacing the beef mince with grated courgette and sliced mushrooms
