High in Vitamin B1, B3, E and Iron, and a source of Omega 3 fatty acids.

Chia seeds are a source of Omega 3 fatty acids, which compose nearly 20% of the Chia seed’s mass. The ratio of Omega 3 fatty acids to Omega 6 fatty acids is 3.5 to 1. .

The herb Chia, or Salvia hispanica, grows in dry, hostile conditions in South America. It is adapted to be highly efficient at absorbing nutrients from the soil. The seed of the Chia plant is valued for its nutrients, and not surprisingly, it has been part of South American diets for millennia.

According to local legend Chia was eaten by the Aztecs, and it is still used by people such as the Tarahumara – a group known for their prowess at long-distance running. It remains a core food in Mexico and Guatemala today.

Brand Marketing
Since it began, Rainforest Foods' purpose has been to help people combine good nutrition with modern life. Realising that a return to time-rich living close to the land is just not possible, we have sourced a range of wholefoods whose exceptional nutritional richness can support modern lifestyles rather than forcing them to change. We look all around the world for these foods, and have them processed in a way that keeps as much nutrition as possible while making them convenient for you to use.

Some of our products are grown by people living and farming in a traditional manner. We choose suppliers that support these producers, their low-intensity production and their environmentally sustainable practices. Our foods are grown by organic methods, so their nutrition remains uncompromised by chemicals. Nature's Finest Foods ... it's what we do.

All Rainforest Foods products are certified Organic by the Soil Association, indicated by the Soil Association logo and the EU organic leaf symbol on our packaging. All Rainforest Foods products are certified as suitable for vegan use by The Vegan Society.

Rainforest Foods works with Rainforest Concern (charity no. 1028947) to conserve threatened forests; protecting endangered habitats; wildlife and indigenous peoples. For every pack sold, Rainforest Foods will fund the purchase of one square metre of cloud forest in Ecuador.
